Editorial Policy

How we decide what to write, how we check it, and the rules we hold ourselves to.

What we cover

We publish about doing it yourself at home: repairs and maintenance, living with pets, and the garden and yard. We do not publish about human health, wellness, nutrition, or medicine. If a topic drifts toward the body rather than the task, we drop it.

How we test and verify

Our default is first-hand work. A how-to reflects the job actually done, with the real measurements, timings, and the places people get stuck. When we cite a number we did not measure ourselves (a spacing, a load limit, a frost date), we point to the source or leave it out. We do not invent statistics, and we do not publish testimonials we cannot stand behind.

Sources and honesty

  • No fabricated data, quotes, or reviews.
  • Concrete claims are traceable to real work or a named source.
  • We state a method's limits plainly, including when it will not work.
  • We avoid hype and sales language.

Monetization limits

The large majority of our articles carry no product links. Where an article does, it is because there is a genuine buying decision to explain, and that article must name the product's downsides and at least one cheaper or do-it-yourself alternative. A link never changes the recommendation. Read the disclosure for how the affiliate side works.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it and note the update date on the article. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated.
